7 Pieces Of Tech From Video Games That'll Actually Exist Soon

1. Air-Burst Grenade Launcher From Battlefield 4

The ultimate solution to cowards in Battlefield 4 who hide behind cover, grenades fired by the XM25 are programmed to burst in mid-air above their targets. As with most BF4 guns, the XM25 is a real thing, and has been used in combat operations in Afghanistan. However, issues with the gun's safety have forced the US military to halt funding for it. That hasn't stopped video-games from embracing the weapon though, as it's already featured in Call of Duty: BLOPS II and Battlefield 4. Leaked images suggested that it was also set to feature in GTA V, but didn't make it into the final game along with several other weapons. What's interesting about the XM25 is that it's currently been decommissioned as a real-life weapon, but looks set to flourish in video-games, where it can negate the advantages of cover, and prevents defensively-minded players from hunkering down for too long. Who knows, maybe the US military is waiting to see whether video game developers add any creative functionality to the XM25, which can then be added to the weapon if it makes a comeback. A better idea still would be to leave this gun to the realm of video-games, where blowing people up is a bit more light-hearted and less consequential than it is in real life.
