The Grand Theft Auto franchise is a British phenomenon, each providing a view from Blighty on America; its humour, lifestyle, politics, culture. Finding such huge success with each release, almost all GTA games have been set in the USA and the forthcoming GTA V is no different. However, if a future GTA game was to be set outside America, there's very few cities that could work as well as Britain's own capital London. I know GTA has been in London before, back in its early days, but with new consoles around the corner Rockstar would be able to use the more powerful graphics and processors etc to create something truly authentic. London has been the centre of many historical events from the Great Fire of London to The Blitz (aka The Second Great Fire of London), and with a London setting you can create your own history in a city that reeks with the stuff. With 33 districts it would be like having 33 cities to visit, each with their own look and feel, and if Rockstar could map out every major street and alley, (not impossible considering Rockstar), then that would make for a truly compelling game, and allow you to do the knowledge while sat on your backside in the front room. London has a diverse range of people and cultures with more than 300 languages spoken in the city, and with its place as a world financial centre and well publicised politics and media scandals, there are endless amounts of possible missions, characters and plots for a story. Below are 7 reasons why GTA should once again be set in London...
7. Classic British Cars
It may be hard to believe now but Britain once produced many classic cars. They ranged from the Jenson Interceptor, Aston Martin DB5, Austin Mini, Austin Healy, Jaguar E-type, Rolls-Royce Phantom V and many more. A London setting would be an ideal setting for a showcase of classic British motors, and they could well be used in a variety of missions, e.g. escorting a VIP in a Rolls Royce Phantom V, chasing down goons in a Jenson Interceptor, robbing trains in a Ford Transit (OK, Ford is American but the transit is quintessentially British), taking prostitutes for a ride in a DB5, the possibilities are endless. There could even be an in game radio and/or tv show that is a spoof of Top Gear that lambasts anything foreign, and praises anything British (just like in real life), the TG presenters could even portray themselves. Some cars I personally would like to see include those mentioned above, 1972 Aston Martin Vantage, 1927 Bentley, 1938 MG Roadster, Rolls Royce Phantom (it was in BOGT), Triumph Spitfire, the Austin-Healy 3000, 1957 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud I and the 1968 Rolls-Royce MPW 2 Door Coupe.
