6. No Surprise Reveals
Even forgetting about the leaks that prematurely announced most of the games before their debut, this E3 was relatively light on surprise reveals for new titles and returning franchises. Sure, there were a couple sprinkled in there - Ghostwire: Tokyo was a definite highlight, and an actual surprise - but for the most part, there wasn't that "... and one more thing!" reveal that usually defines these conferences.
Fans were told not to expect any major surprises like Splinter Cell or Rocksteady turning up out the blue, but usually there's at least something for players to gravitate towards that dominates the news headlines. It didn't help that some of the surprises tucked in there, like Ninja Theory's Bleeding Edge, made little impact either.
Even worse, a lot of the already-announced titles that players are looking forward to didn't show up either. It doesn't matter if the publishers made it clear they'd be sitting out the conference, it's more that they had nothing big enough to fill the gaps they left behind.
