7 Video Game Endings That Were Utter NONSENSE
2. Flan-Tastic - Final Fantasy 13-2
Video games sure do love their comedic time-paradoxes don't they?
From Fallout 2 offering an Easter Egg in which the protagonist from the game goes back in time to destroy Vault 13's water chip thus setting the original game in motion, to being able to shoot The End early on in Metal Gear Solid 3 so that it destroys the timeline continuity, it's always been fun to not just sever the strands of fate but play them like a bloody banjo while you do it.
For me though, Final Fantasy 13-2 creates what is at once one of the most bizarre time paradox endings in video game history but also a moment that is sure to leave you screaming at your TV "What is this kupo'ing nonsense I'm seeing?!"
In this title, you're tasked with traveling to different timelines in order to sort things out Time Cop style, but of course, all your meddling can sometimes lead to offshoot scenarios which are like evolutionary dead ends. One such end is found when it turns out that the King of Flans has taken over the forest and demands gifts in exchange for wiping out humanity.
Not wanting to become a part of its sticky digestive tract, the group turns into monsters themselves to sneak into the King's court and feed it a poisoned dessert to kill it off quickly. However, problems soon emerge when it turns out that Mog, your cutesy little companion is sick and tired of doing all the work and suddenly plots to feed you a part of this poisoned flan!
As Mog then laughs into the black abyss, players are left in utter awe trying to make sense of this pure slice of nonsense they've been asked to chew on.
