7 Video Game Sequels That Gave You LESS

Following a period of inactivity from Oddworld Inhabitants, the announcement of a ground-up Unity remake of the bizarre yet beloved Abe’s Oddysee sent ripples of joy through the gaming community, as fans looked forward to once again helping the hapless Modokon protagonist save his people in HD.

Following the success of this remake, titled ‘New & Tasty’, Oddysee’s sequel was next up for a fresh coat of paint. The development team decided to take this momentum, use the original Exoddus as a spring board, and plunge deeper into the world of Odd. With an expanded story, new mechanics and more varied enemies and challenges, the result was a challenging and charming reimagining of the 90s classic, with more than a few unfortunate bugs.

Despite promising so many new ways to help Abe’s quest, one of the stranger abilities not making the cut this time round would be the dedicated fart button. Although reasons for its omission are pretty obvious, it wasn’t exactly a core mechanic in New & Tasty, fans of this flatulent feature were a little disappointed to find Abe had cleaned up his act.

Little nuanced bits of personality were what made the original games for fans, and we can only hope that Abe returns to his gassy self as this reboot continues the story.
