7 Video Games From Popular Franchises You’ve Never Heard Of
6. Wolfenstein RPG
We complain about mobile gaming today but before the invention of smartphones, it was so much worse. Pre-smartphone, mobiles weren't really designed for games, but developers sure tried to get something on them for some reason.
Where there is a market for games there are weird de-makes and spin-offs of pre-established popular franchises. We have such classics as God of War: Betrayal, a bad 2D action-adventure game, Silent Hill: Orphan, a point-and-click, horror game which undoubtedly scared nobody, and Kingdom Hearts: Mobile, a weird collection of mini-games which is probably canon somehow.
One of the weirdest pre-smartphone mobile games was Wolfenstein RPG which is notable for a few reasons.
Firstly it was programmed by John Carmack, the lead programmer of the original Wolfenstein 3D. This isn't some weird spin-off made for a quick buck, it was a game made by people who worked on the game that popularised Wolfenstein. This game also tries to connect the universes of Doom and Wolfenstein to the point where the final boss is the Harbinger of Doom from the Doom series, move over MCU.
This game is weird, you fight chickens at one point. This is far from the series’ Nazi-slaying roots.
