8. Jason Todd Is The Arkham Knight - Batman: Arkham Knight

It's very rare that a game is genuinely sold on a lie, but Rocksteady/Warner Bros. clearly couldn't ignore the marketing potential of setting up a mysterious, "Who's under the mask?" setup for Arkham Knight.

As such, come launch day, fans waited with baited breath for any clues as to who this helmeted individual could be. Is it Damian Wayne, perhaps a member of the Court of Owls? Hell, maybe despite Rocksteady saying the Knight was an original character, it'll just be Jason To- oh... it's Jason Todd.

And how did we know? Because the literal first thing the Knight says when going up against Batman is "Time to die, old man". And not in some nondescript way, either. The 'Arkham Knight's dialogue is delivered in that same, snivelling, emo-tone that any Bat-fan worth their salt associates with every depiction of the character in the first place.

Not to mention, all those players who weren't self-identifying Batman lovers had plenty of action figures and leaks to tell them what they already knew.
