8 'Shocking' Video Game Plot Twists You Guessed At The Beginning
4. Pandora's Box Contains Hope - God Of War III
The God of War games may be known for centring on a very angry bald man tearing holes through thousands of demonic enemies, but Pandora's Box also plays a key role.
Opened in the first game, it unleashed a special power that helped Kratos defeat Ares, only to not make any appearance in GoW II. It is in GoW III however, that we're told to once again seek out its powers as the mysterious contents therein will aid in bringing an end to the corruption of Mount Olympus.
What could they be? What historically-tinged delight is going to upend our expectations and deliver swift justice to the Gods and Titans alike?
Erm... well, it's 'Hope'. The 'Power of Hope'. Which would be all well and good, if anyone who remembered their grade school history couldn't already have guessed that within the first half hour.
The contrived way this comes out retcons the original contents of the box in GoW 1 too, claiming that this Power of Hope was always present, disappearing inside Kratos, yet the vast majority of us starting GoW III were immediately lamenting such an inevitable conclusion.
