8 Alternate Endings In Famous Video Games You Won't Believe Got Cut

3. Conker Commits Suicide - Conker's Bad Fur Day

The development of all things Conker-related was pretty damn special. Initially starting out with Rare designing a cutesy, mass-appealing fuzzball to contend with the likes of Mario, Crash, Sonic etc., this pitch was inverted completely when initial feedback took aim at everything being that little bit TOO generic.

As a result, all aspects of Conker were inverted entirely. Gone was his happy-go-lucky persona and in was a moaning, foul-mouthed hero-by-proxy. Now, Conker was a drinker who revelled in parodying pop culture with occasionally offensive results. All of which is all still the same in the final build, but a huge change came out of the ending; its first pass saw Conker defeat the evil Heinrich, only to blow his own brains out, ending the game on something of a bum note.

Naturally, Rare realised they'd be canning one of the most original characters in gaming, and it was quickly reverted - but consider how culturally revered this ending would have been: A generic-looking platformer with a "F*ck it" attitude and a suicidal ending? It would certainly have done the character better than the atrocious-looking Hololens incarnation Microsoft are planning.
