8 Awesome Examples Of Outrageous Overkill In Gaming

1. Wesker€™s Death €“ Resident Evil 5

Wesker Albert Wesker has more lives than a lucky cat and by Resident Evil 5 was running on Michael Myers movie logic alone. The former leader of STARS has gazumped death so many times that he looks plainly ridiculous, and his extended mortality had made his 90s creepy-weirdo fashion ensemble look stranger by the day. So when it came time for the big man to die, you knew it would be suitably insane. After all, this is a game that lets you wield a quad-barrelled shotgun, so anything less than OTT would be a real letdown. Luckily for Resident Evil 5, this was the one aspect of the game where they didn€™t disappoint. We all knew that Wesker was pretty much immune to every conventional weapon under the sun at this point, so killing him would require no small amount of overkilling tactics, something played to perfection by Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar. Let€™s watch what they do. What makes this glorious is the fact that you think Wesker just might cheat death once again, despite the fact he€™s being melted alive in a bloody volcano. Mind you, this is Wesker we€™re talking about, so nothing shocks at this point. And so it proves, as he somehow launches himself at your helicopter, requiring the Resi 5 double-act to fire rockets at him while he€™s melting in lava. It€™s pretty much the most metal death ever, and absolutely rife with overkill. When it takes a hail of bullets, a volcano and rockets to take you down, you know you€™re one super-tough customer. Mind you, only the best would do for Wesker, the Houdini of certain death, and at least now you know he€™s going to stay dead. Well, until Resi 7 comes out, probably. Agree or disagree?
