What began as a precursor to the entire stealth game genre exploded into its own brand of outlandish, completely off the wall look at historical fiction; the ever popular Wolfenstein series, a franchise that was given a whole new outlook on life with the release of this years The New Order. Set three years after the previous Wolfenstein game from 2009, The New Order found itself with the difficult task of putting the series back on course after the humdrum affair from the previous title. But where that game might have failed, The New Order has succeeded and returned the series to its former glory. The gunplay is frantic as you can imagine, with a constant sense of forward momentum that never once feels forced. The whole game operates on an incredibly dynamic level, bouncing you along a trajectory that is almost spiritual in the way it can transport you into a completely new environment. What this results in is a game that has tremendous pacing and an excellent story that retains that trademark alternative history madness, everything you could want from a Wolfenstein experience
