8 Best First Person Shooters Of 2014

2. Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare

When a lot of gamers hear "Call of Duty", it usually conjures up bad images of a slapped together game that feels eerily similar to the last one. As much as COD has a devoted fan base, it also has a lot of fans that love to hate it. But the funny thing about 2014 was that this year's Call of Duty is actually better than you might have expected; in fact, it's great. Advanced Warfare continues to trend of games that have jumped onto the yearly release bandwagon, along with UbiSoft's dubious Assassin's Creed franchise. But where Unity failed on nearly every level, Advanced Warfare proved that you can still teach this old dog some new tricks. Taking Advanced Warfare out of the trenches of the Modern Warfare era was exactly what it needed, a sharp echo to when the series left World War II and was better off. Much like the robot landscape of Titanfall, Advanced Warfare opens up the series into a very futuristic direction that has given the franchise a shot in the arm that it's needed for years. After the massively disappointing Call of Duty: Ghosts, Advanced Warfare was the savior that we all needed. The multiplayer is frantic fun and the single-player campaign is surprisingly great, thanks to the addition of Kevin Spacey. And isn't everything better with a little Kevin Spacey?
