8 Best Video Game Sequels (That Weren't Actually Sequels)
7. Asura's Wrath - God Hand
Despite its rather stinky policy on DLC aka charging people for the real end of the game, Asura's Wrath truly is a special slice of video game savagery.
From start to finish this game is an adrenaline rush like no other, showing gamers the world over that despite what your parents tell you, anger can solve all your problems.
Yet while the games visuals, character design, and of course approach to making QTE's actually fun might seem fresher than a crisp winter morning, a lot of players began to comment that Asura's Wrath certainly felt like a sequel to a much loved (unless you were IGN) cult classic.
I'm speaking of course about God Hand, one of the strangest action games ever to exist, a title in which you could kick enemies square in the nuts, battle a group of knock off power rangers, and also race chihuahuas for fun.
This comparison was something that Asura's Wrath producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya was utterly delighted by, noting that God Hand's approach to cartoonish levels of violence and moments of pure silliness was exactly what he was channelling while making his game.
In his own words, he wanted to make a game that nobody had seen before, and noted that "I'm sure that was the same motivation behind the team that made God Hand as well."
