8 Biggest Flaws In Red Dead Redemption 2
6. It's Too Easy To Make Money
Throughout the main story, Dutch Van Der Linde constantly wets your ear by yelling about just how much more money is needed to reach the paradise of Tahiti. The problem with this is that while the camp and its charismatic leader wallow in the self-pity of being paupers, you can be filthy rich and repeatedly put hundreds of dollars into the gang’s money box.
For a game so obsessed with realistic details intended to immerse you in its world, this feels like a huge oversight. Although suspension of disbelief is required for pretty much every narrative, it’s impossible to share the gang’s desperation when you have enough cash to go anywhere if Dutch would just ask.
Not only that, but there’s hardly anything to wisely spend your dough on besides cheap food and horse accessories. Being honourable gives you a huge discount on all in-game items, and you don’t need to purchase weapons as guns are unlocked by stealing them from homes and headless corpses.
To avoid having players stuck with a farcical amount of money that makes Dutch’s qualms about not having enough border on being a parody, merchants and fencers should have had a limited amount of cash when buying your unwanted goods. That and items should have been more expensive than two dollars.
