2. Richard Aplin - Final Fight

"My lasting memory of Final Fight is of pure hatred." These are the reflections of Richard Aplin in a 2016 interview with RetroGamer magazine, who worked as a programmer on the Final Fight series. Now with a statement like that you've got to assume that the poor man went through something horrific while working on the beloved side-scrolling brawler right?

Well... no as it turns out, for the reason this game about slapping more meat than a BDSM butcher caused so much distress to Mr Aplin was because he found the whole thing to be... boring.

I'm sorry, are we playing the same game here? You're telling me that controlling an absolutely jacked dude with a primo-porn 'tasche bodyslamming some punk into the ground like he's Andre the Goddam Giant AND WHO IS ALSO THE MAYOR OF THE CITY HE'S SCRAPPING IN IS BORING?!

It makes me question what sort of thing old Richie got up to on the weekends if this didn't cut the mustard. Orgies? Drug Mixers? Drinking mercury? SEE I DON'T KNOW BECAUSE HE'S CLEARLY TOO MAD FOR ME.
