8 Dead Video Game Franchises That Should Be Resurrected
6. Heart Of Darkness
This game was a PS1 classic. It took 6 years to make and, for its time was, really advanced. The game had over half an hour of incredible cut scenes that made it feel like a movie, which in turn made it reminiscent of classic 80s movies like Back To The Future or Goonies. Gameplay-wise Heart of Darkness was surprisingly great. It had all the usual charms of a good side-scrolling platformer, colourful levels, witty characters and fun gameplay but it also had the great cut scenes and interactive level design. By this I mean you had to interact with the background to progress, for example shooting dinosaur bones for them to fall and allow you to climb up. These elements made for a really fun game.
(Up does look like the safer option)
Its quite a mystery why Heart of Darkness hasnt yet been brought to the PSN; it certainly falls under their PS1 Classics banner. A new Heart of Darkness game seems unlikely as it came out in the 90s and the developer went bankrupt after several lawsuits. It would be really interesting to see how a reboot or sequel to the original would be, would it be a side-scrolling platformer like Rayman Origins? Or would it be a first or third-person shooter that takes a new direction? Sadly I doubt well ever find out.
