8. Dead or Alive XTreme
So, since we opened this article talking about Tomb Raider, what better place to end than with another game with female protagonists that is in dire need of a darker, more serious reboot...? If ever there was a game in need of a edgier, more realistic reboot, it's Dead or Alive Xtreme. For years, DOAX has been defying physics and player's desires alike: we don't want to see the girls on a beach, jumping on the spot in bikinis, we'd prefer a gritty tale of survival and... what's the opposite of bromance? I'd like to see a reboot of DOAX which sees the girls crash on an uncharted island, somewhere in the Caribbean. From here, the girls have to fend for themselves and survive the dangers of this unknown island. Of course the girls themselves would have to be redesigned less boobs and bikinis, more dirt and soiled overalls. Activities such as beach volleyball could be replaced with new activities like eating raw badger meat and avoiding bear attacks. Something else I'd like to see: you know those bizarre sections where the girls massage each other? I'd like to see these sections given an overhaul, removing the focus from the girl's outfit and putting it onto the sisterly interaction apparent in these scenes. So, the sections would be pretty much the same, but instead of massaging each other, they have to pull thorns out of one another's gangrenous wounds. I think this would raise the bar a bit and put more focus on the girls as the survivors of a crash, rather than walking physics engines. This is obviously what people want to see, and I think the sooner Team Ninja realise we don't care about the skimpy outfits and massive breasts, but more about the deep story of feminine bonding and sisterly trust the better. So what do you think game fans? Would you like to see the properties above rebooted? Have we missed any you would like to see? Share your thoughts below.

I find the idea of interactive storytelling fascinating and I think Computer Games are one of the most important things that have happened, in terms of story telling potential...I just don't think anyone has properly worked out to use them yet.
