8 Gaming Features That Started Life As Fan Hacks
3. Two Bears High Fiving - Fallout: New Vegas
Anyone who has ever played Fallout: New Vegas will remember that iconic opening scene as your character somehow manages recovers from an attempted murder thanks to the help of Doc Mitchell.
Unlike Fallout 3's linear and frankly, longwinded opening sequence, New Vegas wastes no time in allowing the player to enjoy the role-playing experience. You pop the game in and two minutes later you've been shot between the eyes, miraculously survived, dusted yourself off and you're off to explore the wastes, none of this 10th birthday party nonsense...
Now of course, in order to determine some of the game's intangibles the Courier has to undergo series of examinations, including a version of the Rorschach test, where the player offers their interpretations of a series of inkblots on paper.
Many fans online humorously noted that one of these inkblots just happen to bear a striking resemblance to two bears high-fiving, but with the player not presented the option to answer, some modders stepped in.
The popular mod caught the attention of Obsidian, who provided a homage to the cheeky option by including a tribal character in the Honest Hearts DLC named Two-Bears-High-Fiving.
Not exactly a crucial inclusion, but a nice nod to the game's devout fanbase.
