8 Greatest Fake-Out Secret Endings In Video Games

7. Prototype

2009 was a very confusing time to keep track of open-world titles, as for a few months everyone managed to mix up Prototype and Infamous at every opportunity. The former always seemed like the most interesting of the pair: a ridiculous amount of darkly delicious powers, a constantly evolving world - and the ability to shape-shift into a granny and throw people off the top of the Empire State Building. But when you eventually reach the final boss after hours of battling off a strange viral mutation and eating the remaining population for health, you better not snuff it. Prototype isn't a very hard game, so you'll rarely be killed during the main campaign, but if you go down in the final fight, then the whole of New York goes down with you. Yes, not only are you responsible for your own death here, but the entire nuclear destruction of New York City. Yikes. Best start learning how to tackle that boss, as every time you fail it's the same cinematic over and over again until you finally get your act together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_nkOIhusq4
