8 Greatest Fake-Out Secret Endings In Video Games

1. Mass Effect 2

The entire galaxy-spanning adventure up until the final mission of Mass Effect 2 has been centred around gaining resources for a "Suicide Mission" by recruiting and gaining the loyalty of a small team of space-badasses. At every turn you're reminded that you need everything possible in order for even the chance to make it out of this last stand alive, but that can't be right, can it? Surely you'll be able to go in half-cocked and save the day. This is a video game, right? RIGHT? Wrong. Skimp on those loyalty missions with your squad, choose the wrong person for a task or only barely upgrade your ship and people are going to be killed. Your friends that you've spent the past 20 hours bonding with are going to be murdered in front of your very eyes and it will be all. Your. Fault. But somehow it gets worse Not only do you get your entire team killed, but you, the sole protagonist left, falls to his or her death while jumping towards the escape ship. One final kicker sees the game end with the imminent threat of total extinction, and the only surviving character being stripped of his ship. Even worse, there's no way to reverse what you did, and you won't even be able to import that save into the next game, Mass Effect 3. You'd probably have just messed it up anyway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRHhdc53Od8 Are there any we missed, or which on this list totally fooled you for a second? Let us know in the comments!
