8 Hardest Video Game Trophies & Achievements Of 2021 (So Far)

1. Hardest Mudokon In The West - Oddworld: Soulstorm

Abe's glorious return to PlayStation hardware in a new title was a LONG time coming. In fact, if you look into the making of Oddworld: Soulstorm, the idea was always sketched out to be the "true" sequel to Abe's Oddysee, with Exodus being turned around in less than a year, just to meet publisher demands.

The subsequent burnout on developers Oddworld Inhabitants and creative mastermind Lorne Lanning resulted in decades of bouncing between executive overseers, crafting side projects Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath, before Soulstorm finally arrived in 2021.

I say all this, because you'll need a few decades' worth of fortitude to get the game's platinum, or 100%. Not only can Soulstorm shift its level of challenge on a dime when you realise how many Mudokons you left behind despite combing the map, but "Hardest Mudokon in the West" wants you to beat the whole game without dying once.

We're talking about a game where standing in the wrong place will see a rogue enemy Slig blast you from across the map, and a notably awkward boss on a train had me dying over 30 times, just trying to find a way to attack whatsoever.

If you managed to beat Soulstorm without dying, no joke, you might just be the most accomplished player of 2021.
