8 Insane Things Video Game Developers Charged Money For
5. Randomised Characters: Final Fantasy: All The Bravest

I actually hate this game. I can feel my blood boiling even as it haunts the deepest recesses of my mind. This wasn’t so much a cash grab as much as an unadulterated cash fisting, square up the chutney.
To call this a game for Final Fantasy fans was insulting, as was the microtransaction model on which it was based. In order to unlock new characters, you had to buy them. So far so shady, but then the devs had the gall to make these unlocks randomised so you might shell out cash and end up with a party member you already had. Given there are more stinkers in the combined Final Fantasy roster than winners, getting four Lightnings and zero Clouds was an eminently possible world of strife.
