8 Moments That Led Seth Rollins To WWE 2K18 Cover Star
4. Rumbling With John Cena And Brock Lesnar
Every wrestler has that one performance fans can point to and recognize as the moment they became a star. Not a powderpuff "Superstar" as WWE refers to all of its performers as but a legitimate star capable of stealing shows, winning championships and headlining the most prestigious events the sport has to offer.
For Rollins, that performance came at the 2015 Royal Rumble.
In the midst of his hottest in-ring stretch to date, Rollins was one of two challengers for Brock Lesnar's WWE Championship. The other? John Cena. On that night in Philadelphia, Rollins eclipsed the stars of his opponents, two transcendent performers in the sports entertainment industry, and was the most buzzed-about man in the match.
With Cena, he formed the foundation of the match. A jaw-dropping, high-risk elbow from the top rope to Brock Lesnar, through the announce table at ringside, proved he would throw caution to the wind in order to entertain and captivate audiences.
He would lose the match, succumbing to The Beast Incarnate's F-5, but he gained something greater from his showing than the WWE Championship ever could have provided: the respect of the WWE Universe.
