8 More Bizarre Methods To Heal Yourself In Video Games

2. Do Nothing! - Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare

In this modern age of war, with weapons that can shoot around corners and where robotic monstrosities push through the battlefield with minigun turrets on their back, it's hard not to feel like an impervious super soldier capable of shrugging off any danger presented to you.

And thanks to the Call Of Duty series, we actually have examples of that mindset being put into practice, as starting in Modern Warfare, the player forgoes scrambling for health packs and medkits and instead just...well.. has a little sit-down.

Imagine that, being struck by a bullet and your only reaction being that of annoyance that you'll have to take a breather behind a pillar for a few seconds. If that isn't bizarre in a game that seems so intent on presenting war in all its gory glory then I don't know what is. Makes you wonder whether some of the characters killed in cutscenes just popped back to their feet after a nap, the hole in their skull becoming a conversation piece and little else.

It's a healing mechanic that gives new meaning to the term "sweating bullets" as now after a quick breather you'll be back in the action once more. Argubaly it improved the flow of COD's lightning quick gameplay, but it basically took reality behind the shed and Ol Yella'd it out of existence.

Jules Gill hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
