Now I know what you're all thinking, a list talking about iconic one and done characters intersecting with Fallout is surely going to result in a long-overdue outpouring of love for the one and only Skynet from Fallout 2, the robobrain with a heart of gold, or at the very least some very shiny copper, but alas I'm going to have to once more snub this cheeky little fella and talk about the real first mate of machines, Nick "why bother with anyone else" Valentine.

Also sidenote Skynet sucks, his arms count as weapons so if you try and bring him into towns and cities everyone turns hostile as you can't tell him to stand down, nice one pal.

Anyway back to the machine of a man who stole our hearts, Nick Valentine who is quite possibly the best Fallout companion in the entire series thanks to his outstandingly whip-smart dialogue, useful insight, and the fact that a synth who dresses as a private eye and who possesses the memories of a real gumshoe from back before the war really is a unique concoction and one that goes down as smooth as his vocal delivery.

Whereas most other companions will chip in here and there, it seems the devs really favored Nick as he nearly always has something to say of the locations you visit, making his presence in your party feel much more like a true companion rather than just a pack mule waiting to cart your seven sets of combat armor back to the shop.
