8 More Video Game Difficulty Levels For The Criminally Insane
4. Outlast 2: Insane Mode
Well with a name like that, how could I not include this in the list? For those of you unfamiliar with the Outlast series, you basically play “The Idiot Who Should Have Known Better” in both games who seems to find themselves dragged into the pits of depravity and bodily mutilation and still want to capture the events on camera.
The second game upped the ante when it came to set pieces designed to make your heart give out, but many felt that it relied on shock value too much and lost some of the personality of the original. Whatever your thoughts on it, one thing that we can all agree on is that you’d need to be locked up if you ever thought about completing the game on Insanity Mode.
This not only has the usual tropes of enemies killing you in one hit, which is always fun in a first person mode when distances can be hard to judge, but also now enemies move even quicker towards you AND if you happen to succumb to one of the many many limbs that are grabbing your ghoulies, you’ll have to start the WHOLE GAME again.
That’s right. No checkpoints. No Saves. Just utter pain.
At least you get a trophy for doing it ...without reloading the camera battery ...oh get in the bin.
