8 Most Insulting Changes To Video Game Remakes

3. THE ENTIRE CONTROL SYSTEM - Ape Escape: On The Loose

Ok, let's just take a step back for a second and try and work this one out.

So you're approached by a higher-up to remake one of the most underrated PS1 titles out there, the glorious gibbon grabbing game known as Ape Escape. Now you, being a person of culture, remember this title as receiving rave reviews for its brilliant implementation of the, at the time, revolutionary dual thumbstick layout of the PS1 controller. In fact, this was the first game that mandated the use of this controller because it tied its gameplay so heavily to the two thumbsticks.

So with this in mind, you'd be pretty excited right? A chance to remind the world of the inventiveness of this brilliant title! Except there's just one problem. At some point in the conversation, the decision was made to remake the game for the PSP, a console with just ONE thumbstick.

Oh, dear. Can you see how this turned out?

Well to be honest Ape Escape: On The Loose did actually perform surprisingly well, but the lack of a second thumbstick truly hurt the overall experience, and one can't help but wonder why this remake didn't just get the proper love it deserved and and release on a larger platform.

Hell, they even had a chance to fix this when the game made its way to the Vita, and they didn't even offer the option to change the controls! Madness!
