8 Overlooked Video Games With Groundbreaking Mechanics
1. Trick-Based Accuracy - FIFA Street
Now as anyone who's taken even a cursory glance over at my direction will be able to tell you: Sports, outside of the criminally underrated and overtly dangerous flash in the pan that was Slamball, aren't really my thing.
I'd not be able to tell you the fine details of the offside rules, nor even which two teams were on the pitch sometimes, but in a paradoxical manner, I absolutely love sports video games.
Well, some sports titles.
You see, for me to get hooked on a world of touchdowns, goals, and baskets, the game in question has to take the real-life equivalent and add in a tonne of video game absurdity, and that's thankfully what FIFA Street did in spades.
Taking the action from Wembley to an alley behind Wendy's, Street pushed the video game mentality hard, and rewarded players for going along with it.
Take for example the brilliant mechanic that was trick-based accuracy. Here, the more tricks you performed the higher your accuracy would be when it came to the final shot. As such you were rewarded for utterly embarrassing your opponent making for some truly tense and emotional showdowns.
Bring this back. please.
