8 Powerful Video Game Enemies That Became Weak Playable Characters
6. Akuma - Street Fighter
We all remember that moment.
The moment that our hearts almost leaped out of our chest in excitement before having said blood pumper be smashed back through our ribs and down out our arses.
I'm speaking of course about the exact moment you met Akuma for the first time.
You'd heard the playground rumors, you'd heard of the insane challenge ahead of you, but you'd persevered and mastered Street Fighter II enough to satisfy either the requirement of reaching and beating Sagat in under 1500 seconds or amassing a huge point score by this point, and finally it happened.
With a flash of Dark Energy M. Bison, the regular final boss of the experience is cast aside like a used tissue and now Akuma is here to beat the absolute snot out of you with his incredible air control, ridiculous power and of course that special move.
There's a good chance you will never have beaten Akuma in this form, but in a way that only spurs on your desire to use him as a playable character which you could do with a few choice inputs on the character select screen. It's a shame then that this version of Akuma is way more balanced than his CPU counterpart and thus feels utterly underwhelming.
It'd be mad to call Akuma weak as he's still one of the better fighters in the game, but he is but a mere ant compared to the burning magnifying glass glare that is his AI variant.
