8 Predictions For The Upcoming WWE 2K23 Announcement
3. No News Is Good News (For The Controls)
After making a big fuss over WWE2K22's revamped controls, expect 2K Games to make less noise on the subject with WWE2K23. The new control scheme worked well in last year's entry, and we can't see 2K asking the developers to change them up too much (especially given the one-year development cycle).
That's not to say there isn't room for improvement, however. Putting reversals on the right shoulder button instead of the Y/Triangle button would make a lot more sense in this writer's mind, and there's definitely space to make doing moves from the ring to the outside more intuitive.
One of our key memories of 2K22 was devolving into hysterical laughter watching Rey Mysterio ineffectually dive to the outside of the ring four times in his Halloween Havoc Showcase match against Eddie Gurrerro. We repeatedly failed to fulfil the mid-match objective that required us to launch the diminutive superstar into Latino Heat, and saw one of Rey's career highlights transform into something straight out of a blooper-reel. We'll freely admit it was likely our own cack-handedness that was the problem, but still - something for the developers to think about.
And speaking of Showcase mode...
