8 Reasons The Xbox One Will Dominate The PS4 In 2016

8. It Will Have Full Backwards Compatibility

Let's get the big one out of the way first. In an extraordinary and unexpected act of reverence to gamers the world over, Microsoft announced earlier this year that the Xbox One would be getting patched to make it backwards-compatible with Xbox 360 games. Granted, it's not coming to all Xbox 360 games, but Microsoft is letting the public vote on which games will be prioritised. The backwards compatibility update will arrive in November, and among the 100 or so games (so far) that will be playable on your Xbox One are Fallout 3, The Witcher 2 and the entire Gears of War series. The closest thing the PS4 has to backwards compatibility is the PlayStation Now service, which is a total sham. PlayStation Now lets you stream PS2 and PS3 games to your PS4, but you need to pay for them (even if you already own the disc), and you're constantly at the mercy of your internet connection. Even when you're showing a full signal, the picture won't be as clear and responsive as playing directly from the console - and it most likely never will be. Microsoft has really outdone themselves here, and while they pulled some PR clangers earlier in the Xbox One's life, this more than makes up for it with arguably the best bit of fan service ever added to any console.
