8 Reasons Why Xbox 360 Was Basically The Dreamcast 2

3. Keyboard Vs. Chatpad

A minor distinction upon first glance, this point shows the "one step further" approach Microsoft took with the Xbox 360. Moving beyond the awkward and time-consuming act of using a virtual keyboard, in 2007 Microsoft released the "Messenger Kit", complete with headset and chatpad. It was a simple addition meant to speed up messaging and give the Xbox 360 social credentials - handy for frequent web browsers, Facebook users or those sending out endless group invites. Dreamcast already had your bases covered with the keyboard, but social messaging and web browsing on the Dreamcast didn't really take off the way it did with Xbox 360. This was symptomatic of how the Dreamcast never really found its footing with the transition between PCs and consoles that was taking place in the first half of the 2000s.
