8 Reasons You Should Play Nioh Instead Of For Honor

3. Art Design Is F*cking Incredible

Ubisoft did a solid job with For Honor, taking some of the most well-worn archetypes in human history and putting their own spin on them, thanks to heavily customisable colour patterns, ornate armour shapes and landscapes peppered with pockets of primary colour.

That said, there's a difference between art design, and art direction. In Nioh's case, the latter has gone down a far more Onimusha-esque route, revitalising the feudal lands of Japan as both a demon-infested hellscape, and a tribute to decades of eastern cinema.

Traditional eastern architecture still ensures a sense of world geography, but it's in the crumbling pagodas, the lightning-kissed temples and the occasional duel with an opponent in a windswept field of wheatgrass, that'll really take your breath away.
