Bundling games to boost console sales is old hat to everyone at this point. So it wasnt that surprising when ntkrnl suggested that Microsoft would bundle Titanfall, the only big name Xbox One exclusive in the next two months, in with their consoles. What did surprise everyone was that pictures existed of it (which you can see above). Could it be real: Maybe While it seems odd to say that a Titanfall bundle might not exist when the design clearly does, there are some facts to consider. First, games media follow up on the ntkrnl rumors seems to point to the bundle being cancelled. Second, Titanfall is a March 11 release, which doesnt give Microsoft a lot of time to change their mind either way on the topic. If the bundles are real, theyre in production now and are going to be shipped as soon as the game goes gold and can burned to disks. If not, theres not going to be a Titanfall bundle unless they slap a Titanfall box image on the front of regular boxes and stick the games in them. So why would Microsoft not go all in for the first big game that people are interested in? It seems that Titanfalls advertising has hit a snag: because this is a multiplayer only game, theres not much of anything that can say what the game is about besides shooting and piloting mechs. So its not surprising that Microsoft might not want to dedicate a line of special looking consoles to a game that might not sell well to people who dont already know about the game. However, Microsoft did buy the exclusive rights to the first Titanfall game for a large amount of money. Pumping some extra money into promoting it as the next big thing, including making a special console bundle for it, might not be a bad idea. With over a month to go, itll be interesting to see what, if any, Titanfall bundles Microsoft releases. What do you think about these rumors? If any of them are true, how would they affect your perception of the Xbox One and its lineup? Let us know in the comments below.
