8 Secret Video Game Endings That Made You Say 'WHAT?!'

6. ONE MILLION ROSES - We Love Katamari

Shenmue 3
Bandai Namco Entertainment

If you've never played the Katamari series of games, then it's basically like taking your mind to a spa retreat. Your eyes will soak in a cavalcade of colours, and you'll be tasked with the bizarre but strangely relaxing task of rolling everything up into a ball all for the joy of your Dad, who also happens to be KING OF THE COSMOS.

Oh, it's also very, very weird. Yet this is why we love it.

What we don't love about We Love Katamari however is the game's secret ending, which not only felt like a slap in the face but because of the time taken to unlock it, felt like the aforementioned slap was going in slow motion and the person doing it was dragging their nails agonisingly across your face.

To better explain, come the end of the title, you're tasked by your dad to roll up one million roses, which when you consider that you've rolled up cities, towns and continents don't seem like too much hassle. The problem is, however, that these roses only spawn in set numbers, meaning that you can only collect small increments each time you load up the game, meaning that this task will take you literally weeks to complete.

However, let's just say you went through the rigmarole of learning to roll, and balled up one million roses, what's your reward? Well if you wanted a sarcastic slap on the back from your Dad and a message saying this was to teach you the meaning of perseverance, then you're in luck!

For everyone else expecting a bit more? Well sorry, my friend there's absolutely nothing of value here for you.
