8 Spooky Gaming Urban Legends That Will Give You Nightmares

7. 'Squall Is Dead' On Final Fantasy VIII

Squall needs this theorey like a hole in the head. This is extremely similar to the 'Paul Is Dead' theory in The Beatles albums. Most people got into the Final Fantasy franchise by playing VII on the original Playstation. This was followed by Final Fantasy VIII, which is considered by some to be the best in the series. Internet theorists believe the main character of the eighth game is already dead by the end of disc one in FF8. Why? Squall is stabbed by an ice shard in a boss battle. However, at the beginning of disc two, he wakes up without a scratch. No one mentions Squall dying from this point, and this is also the point where the game goes from being sort of realistic to a fantastical fairytale, and it's all capped off by the montage of images at the end of the game which some believe to be his life flashing before his eyes. This is either genius game writing or someone looking too far between the lines, but either road up, there's a whole website dedicated to this urban legend at http://squallsdead.com.
