8 Times Celebrities Spectacularly Failed At Suing The Gaming Industry

7. Axl Rose Vs. Activision (Guitar/Band Hero)

Having long since been the butt of the music industry's jokes following a combination of continuing to call himself Guns n' Roses, taking some 20 years to put an album out and eventually appearing to have quadrupled in size, Axl turned his attention to the video game industry. He wouldn't have a whole lot of luck either, trying in vein to bring a lawsuit to the Slash-fronted Guitar Hero 3 after three whole years of release had gone by. Rose stated that he waited so long because he was supposedly being strung along by Activision to have his own game, but aside from his own voice this has never been heard anywhere else. The meat of the claim was that Axl hates Slash so much, he would only license Guns n' Roses' classic Welcome to the Jungle if the latter's tracks in the game with new band Velvet Revolver were removed, along with any images of the top-hatted legend. Of course to the horror of Axl's extremely slow realisation, Slash was all over the game; from the cover art to an end of level boss battle, meaning Axl's ask of $20 million was essentially laughed out of the courtroom, being the statute of limitations had long since expired on such a ridiculous claim in the first place.
