8 Times YOU Were More Of A Threat To Society Than The Gaming Villain
2. Running Over Civilians - Carmageddon
Much in the same way that State Of Emergency places the player in a world so in love with the collapse of society that it's got the word "dystopia" tattooed on its lower back, Carmageddon lets players jump behind the wheel of motorized murder death machines all in the name of winning races at any costs.
Yet where State Of Emergency asks you to kindly not kill civilians and slaps you on the wrist very lightly for doing so, Carmageddon actively rewards you for slaughtering them.
In this world of death races, civilians are given precisely one minute in order to reach safety or risk being turned into windscreen jam by one of these mobile psychopaths, and I don't know about you but one minute isn't exactly a lot of time to do much of anything let alone find shelter. It's basically like if the Purge was crossed with Fast And The Furious and that sounds utterly terrifying.
Now while it's truly the government of this city that is allowing these death races to take place that are obviously the evil doers of the piece, you're not exactly sticking it to the man each and every time you smash through a stadium full of players and come out the other side with a new paint job. Now true you can win without hitting a single person if you're careful, you're still allowing such races to continue by participating and thus are perpetuating a cycle of violence to the cities you race through. Good going.
