8 TV Shows That Would Make Awesome Video Games

5. The Wire

You'd be hard pressed to find a list of the greatest TV shows of all time without The Wire appearing somewhere on it despite receiving mixed reviews when it first aired.

So it's hard to imagine a video game adaptation not being welcomed with open arms, especially if it can recreate the engaging themes of racial politics and corruption that made the series so iconic.

The Wire is set in the city of Baltimore which would instantly make a archetypal video game open universe with plenty of scope for varied areas and designs.

The game could ask players to choose cop or a drug dealer and dictate a style of play accordingly.

Take up the cause of Detective Jimmy McNulty or Russell "Stringer" Bell and have your way with Baltimore's underbelly, creating instant replayability.

The Wire's narrative would allow the gaming industry to deliver a gritty and realistic crime thriller to combat the glorification of violence that Grand Theft Auto is often accused of by its critics.
