8 Video Game Bugs That Literally Destroyed Your Game

7. La-Mulana - Final Boss Bug

Assassin's Creed Origins
Pygmy Studio Co.

For those of you that haven’t yet experienced the utter joy that is La-Mulana, a brutally tough little action-platformer, then I totally recommend giving it a go as the charming sprite work, challenging blend of platforming and battling tough enemies, and more whipping than Simon Belmont at a BDSM club all make for a really charming experience.

It’s also a title that can be played in so many different ways. You can either meticulously explore every area, picking up trinkets and treasures to help you on your way, or you can flash through the game at breakneck speed, making it particularly popular with speedrunners.

Actually, if I’m being honest, the game is actually infamous in the speedrunning community as much as it is popular, as there’s a horrific game and soul-shattering bug that is likely to absolutely ruin their day.

You see in the final boss area, there’s a random chance that the game will freeze up completely, and as speedrunners aren’t concerned with things like saving or wasting any time at all, this usually means a full reset of the game and crossed fingers this won’t happen again.

In later versions of the game, this bug was fixed, but thanks to earlier versions allowing for some exploits to cap the game quicker, this bug is still haunting the bones of every speedrunner looking to master La-Mulana.
