8 Video Game Mechanics Harder Than The Final Boss

1. Time Loop Combat - Lemnis Gate

Because nothing quite purees the brain like a time loop, here's another one, with 2021's multiplayer FPS Lemnis Gate.

On the surface, the 1v1 and 2v2 competitive match types - Deathmatch, Domination, Defend, and so on - may seem dead familiar, but the big, dirty rub is that each side will take turns carrying out actions within a 25-second time loop.

With each new round, previous actions stack upon one another within the 25-second loop, forcing players to get increasingly creative and strategic to figure out how to win the match and negate the other team's actions.

If it sounds less like a game than a paid cluster headache, the steep learning curve is certainly worth your patience.

For while Lemnis Gate technically doesn't have a final boss or really any bosses at all to speak of, dealing with other players - who, if we're stretching things, are the real bosses here - isn't nearly as taxing as just figuring out how to play the damn thing.
