8 Video Game Moments Designed To Troll You

5. Collecting Flags - Assassin's Creed

In the modern era of gaming, Collectible items are pretty much a given in any open-world title seeing as A - it's a great way for developers to encourage players to explore every facet of the worlds that they have personally spent hundreds of hours creating, and B - because it also pads the runtime giving games better-perceived value for money.

Yet as we all know thanks to examples like the accursed Korok Seed challenge from Breath Of The Wild sometimes collect-a-thons can go very collect-a-wrong as they present a ridiculous number of pointless items for the player to gather, actively diminishing their will to see them through.

There's nothing worse than looking at your tally of over 200 smashed doll eyes or peanut butter-covered pinecones or whatever stupid trinket you're collecting and thinking "wow I'm not even halfway there. cool."

Actually, wait there is something worse than this and that's the mentality applied to Assasin's Creed's flag collection that was only put in there as a joke by the developers as a meta-commentary on how players will collect ANYTHING because they're told to.

Which is a fancy way of saying "you just got trolled"

Over 400 flags, with no reward, and only a patched-in achievement for PC players. Is one of these a white flag? as I am desperate to surrender!
