8 Video Game Pre-Orders That Made You Say WHAT?!

7. Griffy - Ni No Kuni

Assassin's Creed black flag
Level-5

Whereas a lot of the other pre-orders in this list will have made players cry out "What?!" because of their lack of worth or general cheek, Griffy, the pre-order familiar bonus that one could get from the original Ni No Kuni, left players flabbergasted because it was so utterly broken.

Most familiars in the game find themselves rotated out fairly quickly due to newer and more powerful pets taking their place, however, Griffy was an absolute unit, trivializing battles to the point where it felt like playing on easy mode.

As a result, gamers who had this powerful pal in their roster breezed through the game and likely found it left less impactful as a result, and those that didn't have Griffy were willing to pay through the nose for the privilege.

At one point in time, codes for this furry fiend were going for upwards of £50 making for a pre-order that you could effectively sell to offset the price of the entire game you were playing.
