8 Video Game Remakes That Need To Happen (And What They Should Fix)

With video game technology coming on leaps and bounds in the last decade, it's quite possible to imagine that by the end of the next console generation we'll be quite able to smell our favourite titles and drip digital drool over stunning vistas with Sony's patented Saliva-Station.

Yet for every move forward there's always going to be an equal and opposite pull for some gamers to return to the days of yore, to the classics they grew up on and in many ways, shaped who they are today.

The retro gaming community it utterly thriving at the moment, and of course, it's something that some publishers cater to with loving remakes and remasters that are able to wrestle money from our wallets and nostalgic tears from our eyes.

However there are still so many games out there that deserve, nay NEED a decent second go around, and the examples that make up this list are but a drop in the ocean.

Instead of being just a stroke down memory lane, this list is going to actually address some issues the original titles had as if these games were to get the remake treatment, just a little tweak here and there could make them genuinely perfect.

8. Vagrant Story - Provide A Better Tutorial<br>

For those who have played this beast, Vagrant Story is one of the best RPG's that Square Enix never followed through on, merely taking the bits they liked for a planned sequel and plopping them into Final Fantasy 12, which while by no means a shabby title, doesn't capture the same sense of tension the ps1 classic did.

However, and I'm sure that I'll lose that much-coveted respect that is so hard to build up in the JRPG community, I personally found Vagrant Story to be much too convoluted for its own good, all thanks to its tutorial or lack thereof.

The game uses a complex and deeply rewarding combat system and uses it to great extent thanks to the titles focus on dungeon crawling, yet with little to no indication of how to actually make the most of the system, many players bounced off the game before it managed to sink its claws in.

Therefore if I were to ever remake this, aside from mandating the assless chaps that are on the original character designs remain intact, I would add in a comprehensive tutorial system that is more than just reams of dialogue or copy-pasted text from the manual.

Sometimes concessions need to be made for remasters and remakes to connect with modern audiences, and this is something I feel will open the gate for many on a truly brilliant RPG experience.
