8 Video Game Sequels That Did Characters Dirty
5. Sergeant Johnson - Halo 3
Arguably the most memorable of all the Halo characters, Sergeant Johnson was pretty much the only human face of note in the early days of the Halo trilogy. Sure we had the likes of Terrence Hood and a familiar face within Cortana, but Johnson represented the human side of the fight.
Now it is no secret that the Space Marines from Halo have an uncanny resemblance to those of the Aliens film, with Johnson being pretty much a copy of Sergeant Apone, but he excelled far beyond a cheap knockoff. And was the lifeblood of any mission players got to fight alongside him.
So coming into Halo 3 we all thought he’d have some grand role to play when finishing the fight, because of course this was meant to be the climactic end for the Halo games and all knots were going to be tied up neatly. This was the case for the likes of Master Chief, Arbiter and most others, though when it came to Johnson, he got done dirty.
Johnson doesn’t go out in a blaze of glory or get a warrior's death, he just gets done over by Guilty Spark. Looking at where Halo was for the longest time after, that might’ve been the wrong choice.
