2. The Last Of Us - Does Ellie Accept Joel's Lie?
The Last Of Us is our
honourable mention of the list. Its ending, as talked about in my 10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Last Of
Us list, had seen some revisions. First, game director Neil Druckmann
wanted us to square off against Tess. Then he wanted a happy ending for Joel
and Ellie. In the end, though, he settled on an open-ended lie that could leave fans pondering the game's closing moments. As of right now, though, we still don’t have an answer as to where
that lie puts both Joel and Ellie.
There’s been plenty of teaser content released for The Last Of Us Part 2. Cut-scenes and gameplay we don’t particularly know the context or timeline of, as well as characters whose motives are unclear. What fans do want to know is the health of Joel and Ellie’s relationship, and if that will last throughout the course of the game.
Did Ellie truly find out that Joel lied to her, did she know and simply come to terms with it, and has that made her bitter towards Joel as she grew up? It’s not resolved yet but once the game drops, we will finally find out.
