8 Video Game Villains That Tricked You Into Helping Them

2. The Forces Of Chaos - Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War

As all good 40K fans will know, there's very little you can trust in across this war-torn universe. Even big hitters like The Emperor Of Mankind can't exactly be seen as benevolent when this decaying god-king requires thousands of souls of his followers to be fed to him EVERY DAY.

However, it's not like the forces of evil have your back either and will as quickly mutate you into a gibbering mass of flesh as use you as a human shield, yet at least they're pretty upfront about the whole matter.

What really squigs my crack though is when Chaos gets all sneaky and has you doing the dirty work for it without you realizing! Such is the case in the original Dawn of War game which posits the player in control of a Space Marine chapter called The Blood Ravens. It's their job to fight the enemies of mankind and it's lead them to a planet in dire need of help.

As you defeat Orks, traitorous legions, and even those once loyal now tainted by chaos, you learn of a cult trying to resurrect a powerful daemon. So naturally, you slaughter your way from one side of the planet to the other to stop them, only to be informed that the entire PLANET was a ritual site, and that every drop of blood has been feeding the daemon.

Had you not given in to such wanton destruction the horror from beyond might not have been given root, but alas you're a Space Marine, and they do love a good massacre.
