8 Video Game Villains That Tricked You Into Helping Them

1. Graf Dumas - Soul Calibur 5

To those familiar with the Soul Calibur series, the narrative and indeed characters found within this fury filled fighting game are anything but subtle.

Be it through jiggle physics or louder than life personalities, it's hard to keep a low profile in these games, especially if you're a sentient suit of armour carrying around what looks like if William Birken was applied to a giant butter knife.

Yet it turns out that Nightmare, the sword-wielding warrior actually was by the far the sneakiest of all Soul Calibur villains as he managed to completely con the young Patroklos into doing his dirty work for many years. Adopting the form of a nobleman Count or Graf Dumas formed a friendship with the young warrior, teaching him many fighting styles in an effort for Pat to realise his dream of becoming a holy warrior.

Part of the Count's tests was to go slaw "Malfested", people who had come into contact with Soul Edge and become corrupted by its power.

Unfortunately, it was later revealed that these horrors were actually just innocent people and Dumas was just getting his lackey to take out anyone who might look to usurp his position of power.

To say that Patroklos was a bit upset upon learning this is like saying that Voldo is something of a fetish freak, a huge understatement.
