8 Video Games That Deleted Your Save Data Just For Fun

Undertale actually has two examples of save data tomfoolery, but the first is actually fake-out. Once you defeat Asgore, the next time you go to save your game Flowey will appear instead - proudly proclaiming that your save file is "gone FOREVER." If you beat him, Flowey will rescind his threat and give you your save file back.

If you commit to a Genocide playthrough though, upon completing the game you'll be shown a blank screen with no way of progressing. Wind ominously howls in the background, and, no matter how many buttons you mash, nothing will happen.

If you let the game run for ten minutes, eventually Chara will offer the player a choice; give them your soul, and you can continue playing. If you accept, the game will quit out to the desktop.

Upon restarting, Undertale will act like it has just been installed for the first time, and asks you to create a save file. Unbeknownst to the player, the game has actually been irreparably altered - no longer allowing the player to fully complete Pacifist playthroughs, and even giving you special dialogue should you attempt another Genocide playthrough.
