8 Video Games That Made You Regret Killing Bosses

4. Dark Souls

Soulsborne games are jam-packed with feel-bad bosses, but perhaps the most crushing enemy of all? Solaire of Astora from the first Dark Souls.

While Solaire barely qualifies as a boss considering he doesn't even have a health bar and can be bested with a faint gust of wind, he's still one of the most important and unforgettable combat encounters in the Dark Souls trilogy.

Solaire is an undeniable fan favourite character who is ultimately driven insane by a Sunlight Maggot parasite when players reconvene with him in Lost Izalith.

His relentless attacks likely led many players to put him out of his misery by simply cutting him down on the spot, which is sad enough, but it gets worse once you realise what you've really done.

As it turns out, you can actually kill the maggot before it infects Solaire, which not only prevents him from going insane but allows players to later summon Solaire to help fight several bosses, including the game's final boss Gwyn.

Because killing everyone's favourite sun-bro wasn't bad enough, doing so also deprives you of some much-needed help later on. All the regret.
